Stitching threads of HOPE: “Stitched Empowering Women Program”
In the midst of chaos and despair, Waad, a resilient Syrian refugee, experienced a life-changing transformation after meeting the women of STITCHED. They had started a support stitching group at one of the shelters during the last war which is believed to be a form of therapy. Their embodiment of love, hope, resilience, and empowerment helped her uncover her true potential, turning despair into creative purpose.
Having carried the heavy burden of uncertainty and the invisible scars of war, Waad shares how STITCHED helped her find strength: “What Stitched did with us was a touch of love,” she reflects; “They made us feel productive and useful.”
Though she had little prior experience in crocheting, learning to knit became much more than acquiring a skill, it became a way to weave stories of hope and dignity into every product.
On this journey, Waad found her confidence, joy, and a renewed purpose. With her hands, she creates beauty, and with her heart, she now passes on the same hope that once lifted her.
